Exchange Students

Those who choose to study at the Baroque City of Ludwigsburg will live and study around Ludwigsburg Castle in the heart of Europe. Exchange students study and live in Ludwigsburg on an attractive campus that will be redesigned in 2022/2023.
As a royal seat in south-western Germany, Ludwigsburg is known throughout Europe. The royal palace (Residenzschloss) and its two adjoining palaces, the royal hunting lodge (Jagdschloss Favorite) and the lakeside palace (Seeschloss Monrepos), as well as the "Blühendes Barock" palace gardens are a cultural hotspot that attracted the celebrities of its time, from Mozart to Casanova, all of whom visited Ludwigsburg at one time or another. Besides you can easily reach the capital of Baden-Württemberg in just 25 minutes by train, where you will find many other attractive leisure activities.

You are considered an exchange student if you come to the University of Public Administration and Finance for one or two semesters and then return to your home university. You do not earn a degree from the School of Public Administration and Finance, only credits for the courses you attend. Entry is possible either in spring or autumn.

As an international student, you surely have many questions if you want to study in Germany. What do I have to do and when?

Ana and Tim explain step by step how to study at a German university! Watch this

Within the time period envisaged for practical training a maximum of 3 months can be performed in the service of an administrative training unit abroad according to § 23 article 3 of the training and examination arrangements for the Upper Grade Civil Service (APrOVwgD).

Within the framework of the studies for the degree of a graduate in Public Management (University of Applied Sciences) students are free to undergo practical training abroad for up to three months. This practical placement abroad aims at providing candidates for the Civil Service with the possibility of acquainting themselves with a foreign administration (organisation and procedures) and of making comparisons to the administrative practice at home.

During the practical placement the trainee involved has the status of a Civil Servant until revoked. The foreign municipal administration will not have to cover any costs related with the practical placement of a trainee. The candidates for a civil service position continue to obtain their salary during the practical placement abroad and are insured. In case of damages the state ("Land") Baden-Württemberg is liable within the framework of its sovereign liability under the Civil Service Law.

The University offers the possibility to cover the costs of the traineeship abroad in Europe or worldwide with the help of a grand. These grands are provided by ERASMUS, PROMOS and the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and its collaborating European countries. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded.

One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS (30 ECTS per semester). Please note that ECTS credits won’t be awarded if the student doesn’t attend the classes and does not undertake the assessments.

Credits measure the students workload which is required to pass the examination and include class attendance, classwork, laboratory work and individual study.
